This is a bit belated, but as I've only just remembered my password to post again on this forum it cant be helped!
In May this year, my first pony, Rusty, was sadly put to sleep. He was 28 years old and had a good old life, but he will be very sadly missed. We had him for 15 years, he taught me to ride and though he was far from perfect (bolting down the local lane, jumping cattle grids, and kicking me pony club camp spring to mind...), he was the best pony I could have asked for (At same pony club camp we did win the dressage, SJ, and handy pony on the final day, and I have two shelves full of old trophies in my bedroom).
He had been losing weight for some time no matter what we tried, and one day I arrived at the yard to feed him and Harry and he had just gone down hill over night. He looked like he had lost half his body weight, he had diarrhoea all down his legs and blood coming out of his nose :'( We called the vet and she didn't know what had brought it on, but agreed it was probably best to have him put to sleep. My sister and I were with him when he was put to sleep, as as my good friend Natalie who I'd like to say a public thank you to because I don't know how I'd have coped that day without her.
It took a long time to adjust to him not being there, and I know I'll be missing him for a very long time :'(
I just felt he deserved a mention on here because I'd have wanted him to know how much I love him and miss him, and I believe he deserves for other people to realise how special he was...
