lol well here I am  Embarrassed  Undecided
A few people wanted some pictures of me on my new Fhoenix..
I don't have any other photos of me riding because I am always the one with the camera.... But my RI took a few yesterday in my lesson...
lol we ran out of shot (digital delay) on the fast work... but here they are

Criticism welcome
Please bare in mind that G is only five and my common fault (of many) is that i tense up through my lower back when I concentrate

Here are my daughters trying desperately to show me how to ride

and me disappointing them  Cheesy

and evading the contact by overbending

Thanks  Cheesy

The more I look at the pictures the more I cringe... should have taken pictures of me long ago.
I do usually have my stirrups a bit longer but it is a new saddle so I was "being prepared".... still want to reach in ot the photo and put them down a bit... while I was there I would pull my leg down and stop it from drawing up like that, I would make me look ahead more too and my thumbs should be more on top!!!

lol other than my legs and my hands and my stirrups and my seat I look OK  :Smiley  rofl

Hey GC2, you don't need instruction, you already know what you need to improve! I'd agree with all your comments! Looking at photos/video of ourselves is always cringeworthy. No-one looks as good as they hope! But by using the feedback you get, you will improve what you need to. Lovely horse!!

I think you look pretty darn good! Certainly better than I looked when I first got my Fhoenix  Smiley And G is gorgeous- great for being just 5 and so calm with your kids  Cheesy Bit of a chair seat I see though in pic no. 1  :P Guess it doesn't help when your legs don't even reach the stirrups though lol!

lol i have to say that I only got it this week and I have had to adjust alot of my riding as it seats me differently... shame I don't have any pics of me before. I am finding the pictures very useful though... think I will ask RI to that one a month

lol TK

Lol Little Gracie (4 today  Cheesy ) has only just shown an interest in riding... but she is so gutsy... she asked yesterday if she could canter!! I told her... in a few years and when you have stirrups and jods on  :Smiley

What a gorgeous boy and what problem?? New saddle and you've done exactly what I do shortent those stirrups  Smiley Give it time you'll relax down into it.
I've got a big cob who used to overbend. Now i've got him in a mullen mouth pelham with an elastic curb and he loves it. Now if he does bend he looks just gorgous  :Smiley Overbending doesn't free him from the snaffle action now so he relaxes into it and softens his jaw.
I'm not an expert but its changed our way of riding. If you want professional advice ask Heather as she really helped me with it.

Good luck though, gorgeous boy and a clan who look like they are going to follow in your footsteps Cheesy

and OH i have loads & loads of "cringeworthy" photos......it's a good thing though, helps self-awareness.  honestly i don't think you look that bad!  other than your heels drawing up some.  your horse looks great (i think he is just GORGEOUS  wub ).  with time you'll sort everything out!

btw i adore the photos of your girls  wink

Awwww - Lovely Pics!!

Horses like that are worth a million wink  They are so rare to find but a 'true' family horse like Guiness is worth his / her ( Embarrassed) weight in gold!

Actually I dont think your position is that bad!  It has real potential actually.  Some work without stirrups (even just in walk) will help wonders in relaxing your leg and preventing your leg coming too far back Smiley  Also Heather shoed me a good exercise of pointing your toes down when you have no stirrups as it improves you leg and seat - she got me doing this at trot, but I am sure it would be just as effective in walk wink

I love Guinness, he's such a star! Embarrassed   what an angel with the littlies!

He's looking fab in his new saddle, as are you m'dear!

Just a couple of things to help you get sorted in it...
- need to move you seat forward a few inches, you're pushed to the back a wee bit. Probably due to the wide feeling it gives (especially on a coblet, I know how you feel, I have two wiiiiiiide beasts and now have hips of elastic but its taken some time!). By moving your seatbones forwards, you'll be more central and in the deepest part of the seat, so keeping the pelvis upright becomes easier.
- drop your stirrups a hole or two. This will let you get your legs under you and not so in front of you (also helped by shimmying that bottom forwards a bit, see above wink) . Vicky's tip about 'no stirrups and toes down' will help too, it relaxes the upper thigh and calves and lets you weight down through the leg rather than you gripping up with any part of the leg and unbalancing yourself.
- opening the hips a bit more (allowing the legs to widen from the top - if that doesn't sound too rude!) will let your leg go 'round' him a bit better, letting you use your leg more effectively rather than trying to use your heels on his sides. Try to use your calf muscles on him not your heels (remember that one Vicky??? 8)). This will improve your impulsion and stop you gripping up and unbalancing yourself.
- hands, arms, upper body posture, all good..... BUT LOOK UP! you're doing a grand job, enjoy yourself and stop worrying! Cheesy

have fun honey, hope some of that is helpful in some way,
Lucie xx
