I have just had to make one of the hardest decisions in years. My elderly greyhound, Flash, had been getting weaker on his back legs, but until now, was still enjoying a good life. This morning, his right hindleg kept giving way, and he fell over a couple of times. He was also panting a lot, and was drinking and peeing a lot.
I knew the time had come. I rang my vet, who has known him since I first had Flash, a rescue dog, who had been found lying in his own excrement and urine bald all the way along his stomach and down his hind legs.
Flash latched onto me the moment he saw me, and was my devoted dog from that day onwards, and for the nine years that I have been privileged for him to be my companion.
I am going to miss him more than I can ever say, but Richard my vet, agreed that the time was now, and put him to sleep, with Flash letting go of life, peacefully in my arms, within 20 seconds of the injection.
RIP my darling dog- I can hardly see the keyboard for the tears, but I know that as my dear old Dad, aged 79 and with Parkinsons disease himself, insisted on burying him in the camellia bed by the front door, with Steve's help, we couldnt have done more for him, and we will never ever forget him.
RIP my darling dog, may Rainbow Bridge be waiting to welcome you. :'(

Your devoted human-
Heather XXX
