I hate saying it, but how's the fit of the saddle?  What's your horse - big, small, round and muscled, thin and TB like mine??

Was it just today? If so, it could just be high spirits. Especially as they didn't sound like 'nasty' bucks form your description, more like play ones.

If it continues, as Pete suggests, check his saddle

Cymro used to buck on canter transitions. He was the narrowest horse we had on the yard.....when I say narrowest he is a wide fit saddle.....say no more!

We muddled though for a while until we got a made  to measure saddle and lo and behold the bucking ceased within half an hour with his new saddle on the transitions   His new one has a serge panel and fits him like a glove. He now only puts in a f'tang if you use a schooling whip a bit too sharply.

The saddle he came with was sawn in half and dumped in a skip! It was a Med fit and was far too narrow for him. I saw them in half now as I have had them make a miraculous re-appearence, brought in by folk wanting me to repair them and value them for selling  angry  angry
