couple of abortive attempts on the race track (flat) ......... apparently didnt like the idea of racing!!!
since then, not a lot thats done him any good! (says she, mindful of slander!!

fair point well made!!!!!!!!!
dont know how long our playtime will be.............. if he hasnt got a saddle that fits................ not very long!!!! the one i used yesterday gave him nasty rub and that was just lunging!!....... or rather his gallant attempt at the wall of death!! he thought that was what he was meant to do!! ( slander again if im not careful!! hehehe)

Ooh another ex racehorse, how exciting! we can get him and Jamie together and have a race, or perhaps not, may be a bit scary!

Tracy.......perhaps not!!!!!!!!! having looked his "form" its not something to be proud of!!!!!!
he was well-behaved on lunge today........ much better than monday!! more like lunging than the "wall of death"! he now has a saddle that nearly fits ( ) so we will be having a little ride out later this week! liz is kindly lending her gorgeous cob as lead horse............ my (sound for the moment!!) orange ball is just tooooooooo bouncy and is still having "issues" with sheep!
this little "project" is looking for a kind, gentle but FIRM mum who is experienced with young tb's. he's got a few superficial scars (nothing anywhere dodgy!!
) so is not suitable for the showring but would love to have a go at sj, xc and would probably do a fairly decent dressage test!
i dont know what his owners are expecting to get for him but ive put a value on him i think is appropriate for his age and training level. if youre interested (or know someone who is) please pm me for further details.

well........ we were going to venture out today......... but my little project had other ideas!....... he'd obviously been having a good yap with my boy and decided to see if he could make a better job of messing his eye up!....... not quite tho, but strangely it was the same eye
and to cap it all he came in tonite minus a shoe....... farrier only did him yesterday!!! if he were actually mine, he'd be barefoot!
oh well, will try again tomoro.... hopefully farrier will be out at some point! horses........... who'd have 'em? lol

nic........ did hold him til i got solly in for you! farrier asked me to! he just was being a bit of a t*t in field with his mates today and off it came!
i did suggest hacking him up to exeter sales, farrier commented i might just make enough for a bacon butty and bus fare home! lol owner not impressed...... but took it in good heart! lol

Sounds like he heard about the chance to go barefoot and thought he would give it a go...
Good luck with the riding when you DO get the chance to get on him, though

i had same thought earlier! he's def one that would benefit from being barefoot.... B)
tracking back to our conversation about my boy......... still very slightly unlevel (initially!!) on the off-fore. he just gives me a bemused look when i threaten to pull his shoes and let him go barefoot! :(

not as daft as that may sound....we had a pony called Shannon...probably the smartest little sod on the planet.....he seemed to think that he didn't need shoes either. Would wait until the farriers van pulled out of the drive then pop his foot up onto the mid strand of the fence, and hook the shoe right off...and its not like it wasnae well fitted.... his other faviourite wee trick, was to put a foot in a haynet......yes I hang them up on fence posts
the first time he had a foot caught I rushed over to carefully extract him, and turned my back and he had done it again......so I left him to it, once he realised I wasn't going to give him any attention he pulled his foot out himself and came over to raid my pockets....
