Some of you will know that I recently bought a Hannovarian gelding with severe laminitis as a project. A few people have asked after him so I've decided to put together a blog to chart his progress. I know everyone loves photos, so I've tried to put some of the gory ones in.

Here's where to find it:

That is absolutely fascinating!  I'm going to be keeping my eye on his progress.  Have you got any plans for him Richard?

So far he's not done anything much - just walk trot and canter before he went lame. Unfortunately, we've five horses now which makes Fred the 'one too many' so if I can harden my heart enough, he'll probably eventually be sold on. In the meantime though I plan to have some fun with him. Even with the laminitis, he's got rather nice paces. I fancy seeing whether I can get a Hannovarian to do classical dressage - i.e. actually collect rather than just showing off with extension in the front end.

If anyone can do it, you and Claire can!

Crikey - i can't get over those feet.  I admit to being pretty ignorant about laminitis so will follow this with interest.   Cheesy

Brilliant Blog Richard and thanks for sharing. It's such a great way to learn, to see the decisions you've made and to understand why and when you make them. To have them backed up with photographs is wonderful.

It's also a touch scary for me because if I make wrong decisions... I make them in public!
