Dont be so hard on yourself!

I would say that your arms look quite stiff and you need to to relax and bend your elbows more.  Some of the trot pics you are rising quite high but your horse probably throws you quite high?

Your horse is beautiful  wub by the way.

At least people on this forum know that they have to work on their riding and care about their horses to do the best for them.

I always think that photos are hard to judge, video is great to watch back and see what you are doing.

One day I might be brave enough to post for critique on my riding, definately a lot of faults to be corrected for me  Shocked

Hi Kelly,

As Janet says, dont be so hard on yourself! That horse of yours is a stunner and you look very tidy and neat, just your arms I agree are too straight and stiff, more so in some pics than others.

You also look as if you may be rising too upright, but then Twinkle probably has the typically huge Friesian trot, and would throw you that far over the pommel. Do you try to sit upright in the sit phase of rising trot, or allow your hips to come slightly in front of the vertical?

Kelly i have the same 'uprightness' problem in rising trot too.  'upright' is good......but the rising needs to be slightly forward, and not so that your whole pelvis goes over the cantle of the saddle (my uneducated opinion!).   that big suspended Friesian trot makes this a real challenge.

Amber looks GREAT!  Cheesy  and overall i think you do too  wink.  i would maybe work on relaxing your heels down, and keeping your upper arms hanging straight down by your torso (emphasis on relaxed arms).

you make a beautiful pair  thumbs

thans guys i really struggle with relaxing my arms next to my torso without tensing up i look and she if they are there then next time i look they are way infront of me  Embarrassed :osame with my heels got to always think long leg :Pbit hard when i m only 4ft11 on such a big moving horse Cheesy

and with the rising thing i think sometime i get left behinh and that makes me really go upright were i try and catch up with her if that makes sense Undecided

do you mean the pommel? only you must sit backwards?

kelly you are probably feeling left behind because your landing in the upright position which means your then not ready for the next rise. If you keep your pelvis slightly tilted forwards then as you land your ready for the next movement, which should make it much smoother to ride.  Cheesy
