Awww, did he not pine when he lost Kiwi? We had a pair and when his mate died our boy was really sorry for himself.

My Mum had birds and we started with Cockatiels, then had a Blue Fronted Amazon and an African Grey as well as Lovebirds too & eventually a whole aviary.

We got Chico because I wanted an Amazon having had one as a child and he loathes me!! He *loves* DH and will sit on his shoulder, let DH tickle him and share DH's dinner. If I so much as go near him he growls at me!! He hates women.

He is a good talker, he says "Hello"; "Good boy"; "Milo" (dogs name!!); as well as doing the phone; the cat; the dog barking; the kids whinging and my laugh!!

Birds are such fab characters!!

He was a upset for a little bit when Kiwi died but that was several years ago and now he has bonded to people.  He isn't depressed or anything, Lovebirds can live without a mate but then they will attach to a person.

ooooh!!!! I hope you don't mind if I post piccies of my lovebird! I have a peach-faced lovebird named...Peaches! lol. He's 11yrs old now and is still going strong! I am his mum and am the only one in the family he'll let do anything to! He used to have showers with me...and when I was sick he would try to feed me. It's very disgusting having seeds regurgitated onto your face when you're unable to move much because of your health! haha.
He loves to cuddle and is also in love with on of our Finches. It's very funny actually because they're both truely in love with eachother. He loves flying around to different rooms and then stalking the dogs. Actually yesterday evening while I was getting ready to go out he climbed (didn't fly for some reason) all the way up two flights of stairs and into the upstairs bathroom to make sure I was alright. haha.
Anyway here he is enjoying a potato chip. Although his favorite is coming up when you're eating cheerios and he will grab a cheerio out of your bowl and then slurp the milk up. He's a bit of a cheek! lol. And don't worry cheerios, and chips aren't part of his regular diet! haha.

I had left my plate for a split second and found him trying to eat up everything so I thought I'd take these pictures of him in the act! hehe. This second one is of him enjoying a cup of afternoon tea while reading the newspaper!

No kidding! We had some of them as well, nastly little things if they haven't been hand tamed. :ouch:

Um, yes, I had to wear a thick padded leather winter glove to handle said budgie, Jackie his name was :ouch:

In fact, I've never had a pet that didn't give me scars.  Except Quadi, his worst habit is licking

Thanks for sharing all your beautiful photos! I have a cockatiel who is 14 years old (apparently well past his use by as I am told they only live for around ten years). He is hand tame but my Jack Russells would dearly love to eat him! He throws his food at them through the cage (great, more sweeping!  :(  ) He imitates the phone, the microwave and whistles. My ex built him a cage outdoors (his mother disapproved of a bird inside  angry  ), lovely big cage, but he hated it and screamed for a week until I couldnt stand it and brought him back inside. He likes to be right in the centre of all the action. He also talks, but not really that well. I will be very sad when eventually old age catches up with him...
