A sheepskin half-lined saddlecloth (the stephens one) under my correctly fitted Saddle Company Saddle? or would it alter the fit? I think it would be really good for Woody as his back is very sensitive. Would a backsaver pad help as well?

i dunno .. .but i;ve always been of the view that if a treed saddle is in fact properly fitted, then all you should need underneath is a thin cloth for the purpose of keeping the underneath clean; anything else may well change the way the saddle fits the horse...

Thanks Smiley its just that he has back spasms and other odd back problems, and I'm just trying to make his fortunately well-fitted saddle as comfortable as possible, as we still get some head throwing and dancing when it goes on - mostly memory I know, but I'd like to minimise the discomfort for him Smiley

I'm with Claire, Jess.

If a treed saddle has been fitted to the horse, I wouldnt use a pad unless it had been deliberately fitted wider in order to allow for redevelopment of atrophied muscle.

Does your Saddle Co saddle have the serge lining? This always helps a sensitive back.
