I think forward girth grooves are likely to be a problem with any saddle if you want to avoid the saddle impeding the shoulder.
i have one horse with forward girth groove, which in a treed saddle seemed to bring the saddle forward onto his shoulder.
I had a mare like that, but the treed saddle she was in at the time had adjustable girth positions so the saddler was able to adjust it and it worked really well in preventing the saddle being dragged forward to follow the girth.
This was in the days before I went treeless.
With toby, who I use a Fhoenix on, angling the girth billets forward seems not to cause him any problems whatsoever, nor does it drag the saddle forward.
But i think the new girthing arrangement on the Fhoenix is even more flexible. Nice piccie, thanks Elaine.
And nice to see Mrs P on here

I thought I know that horse................................. don't she look just dandy. You should have seen her come galloping down the field on sunday when we went to get saff in - 4 humans cringing about the mud and the incline, one horse FLYING. sliding stop right in front of me!!!! not a wrong step. Hope she's as ok as she looked!
