I've just had a quick look on the net for one of these. Ahhhhh! They are a bit pricey aren't they? If she needs it she will get it though. Just thought I'd ask where other people have bought theirs from in case they've found somewhere cheaper than me!

Also, any reports on them please? I presume it's worth getting the plantinum? Has anyone used the gold?

Direct from Mattes - no not cheap though! I would go for the Platinum just because I think its likely to give the best protection.

Have pm'd you.

I've seen the 'gold' version and to be honest I thought that the sheepskin was a little on the thin side.  It put me off them completely until I found out that they also do the 'platinum' version - I've seen that and it's much better.  The sheepskin on the platinum is much more on a par with the Stephens numnahs - softer and thicker - snuggly!  Cheesy   If I could afford one, I'd certainly get one.

I just bought two of these platinum  correction pads.  My husbands horse has a prominant spine and we currently have the Phoenix Suberpanel saddles which was causeing some spine pressure.  I bought these pads because all Mattes pads now have a spine chanel AND have pockets to add shimming if necessary.  The fleece is so nice that so far we have had to add the shims.

I think I paid 89 pounds each, plus shipping of course.

Looks snazzy!
I took a genuine sheepskin and stitched two pieces onto the underside of a square shaped numnah, so that it looks just the same as in the Platinum picture.
I did it so as to provide a little extra cushioning plus sweat absorption. And it costs very little to do yourself!

But I feel sure that the Mattes design must involve something more than just that,
so can someone please explain the the 'correctional' part...
How does it work?
What does it correct?

The correctional "part" means that you are able to shim the Mattes pad in areas where additional padding is required, for example where areas lack of muscle development. The whole underside is genuine lambswool sheepskin in the case of the platinum range.
