I just heard from a friend that her instructor, who is a 'knight' in Bent Branderup's ranking system, has ordered a Fhoenix.
Ha! And that's probably because I kept telling my friend about the Fhoenix, she told her instructor who got curious etc etc - funny how things can go...

Have to add: I'm not a great admirer of all that hubbub of ranking and 'knights' and 'academic riding' that Branderup surrounds himself with, but I have seen him on DVD on his blind (!) Knabstrupper stallion and that was amazing.
Very quiet riding, very supple horse.

Although I'm not an approved 'knight' I'm very happy with my Fhoenix because my (shared) horse likes and approves of it!  Smiley

It is, isn't it?
Branderup bought/got him as a rescue horse, as far as I remember he (the horse!) had been in a severe accident, with all kinds of injuries, he was skin over bone (do you say that in English??? Or is it a 'Dutchism'???).
Branderup patiently trained him (apparently he trains all his horses with lots and lots of groundwork, longreining etc first) and look where they've got!
It's a wonderful sight to see those two move together and to see the trust the horse puts in Branderup.
Imagine, being a flight-animal and being blind!!
Amazing what horses can learn and do!  notworthy
They can be so trusting and willing and forgiving... ah, horses   wub  wub  wub

Three broken legs? And then went blind.... what an amazing horse and owner.

I like the site, especially the piece where he says he learned to use dressage for the horse, rather than the horse for dressage  Smiley

Ive always said that when I eventually look for another horse (couple of years time yet!), I'd love to consider the knabstruppers. I think they're beautiful horses (and my fiance being Danish, is of course, very in favour of them).

That horse is simply stunning

That is also in Anja's book- 'Dressage is there for the horse, not the horse for dressage'- very wise words.

Wow, fancy that, one of Branderup's knights, eh Claudia? I am surprised that he is not riding on one of Bent's own saddles?

Hugin is a wonderful horse- I find that the Knapstruppers are almost without exception, very supple and easy to train, but to have one that is blind trust like that is amazing. The work is wonderfully soft and fluid too.
