I have a lot of trouble giving more pressure with my legs whether it is for forward or lateral movements. I have a feeling that I am not doing it correctly rather than just not having strength. Can anyone give me guidance in a graphical kind of way so that I can clearly understand.

I mentioned this to my teacher and I know I must relax my bum and that the pressure is from the lower leg but I am still not getting the result I hope for. Please please someone some help !!! everything else sems to be going well it is just this BIG problem

Hi Alexa
A few things spring to mind., try lighter but more rapid leg movements ( I don't mean kick!) tickling with the heel. Timing- is your leg making contact with the horses rib cage at the correct moment. When he is walking along feel his rib cage touch the alternate  lower leg ie he swings along. When he touches your calf(which is already placed on his side) push the rib cage off your lower calf he then meets the other calf and push that away from you. You will be amazed how little pressure you will need to get a very forward walk etc, it is just like walking along, to slow him close your knees, too much and you will stop !.
It is not difficult to get the hang of the above about 2 circles and it should be fine.
